OOTD - Denim Dress

Hey everyone!  I'm back :)

December has rolled in, and even if it doesn't feel like it, the inevitable is approaching:  Christmas is almost here!  Who else is excited? In contrast to my winter excitement, this outfit happened.  I have no idea why, but the weather outside is super hot out.  So now,  I wear short sleeves in mid December.  Great.  Now, I'm not complaining about this weather, but I was looking forward to the cold temperatures!

OOTD - Stripes

Hi, everyone!

Well, it's been quite awhile since I've posted anything, but no fret!  I haven't forgotten about my little blog.  I have been so busy with school and tennis and the musical and vacation that I haven't had the time to do an update.  I hope to be back, or at least posting more frequently.

As for now, I wanted to post an outfit that I wore last week to school.  It was really a nice, casual look that is a lot more toned down than I'd normally wear.  The makeup is especially inspired by the 60s.  Yeah yeah yeah I know that the 70s are more on trend, but I'm never going to give up my Twiggy-esque looks!

Here, I opted for a light shimmery shadow with a thick wing.
I opted for a medium toned pink on my lips.

earrings - Express
ring - Francesca's

coat - H&M

I hope this post has made up for some time away.  Thanks so much for reading!

Swatch Sunday #6

Yanno what I love about living right by a Sally's Beauty Supply?  Well the obvious answer: the makeup!  But also, it's super convenient to spot all the sales!  I can go there with just $10 and come out with at least 12 products.  Everything is dirt cheap, and this is how I came across this Sunday's product.

This week I chose Femme Couture's get rosie lip and cheek stain.  This product is such a toss-up for me.  Sometimes I love it and sometimes I just feel like passing.  There are also a bunch of pros and cons, like how I love the color but I hate the smell.  The wear time is alright, but you do have to layer a lot on the lips.  Also, I love the two sided packaging of this.

Thanks so much for reading!  I hope you loved my post.  What do you want me to swatch next week?  What other posts would you like to see?  Have you tried femme couture's get rosie lip and cheek tint?

August 2015 Favorites

Well well well, I'm back.  I took an unexpected break, which probably should've been expected.  Last week I started my Sophomore year, so I'm just getting situated with the new school year.  Also, this weekend I was booked with events with my boyfriend.  I'm very happy to be back and should be posting more frequently!

Although we are already halfway through September, I've decided that I couldn't miss the last favorites of the Summer.  August was definitely a fun filled month, so I have a lot of favorites to discuss with you!

Legend by Marie Lu - Of course during the Summer schools just can't give students a break, so they make us read books and write reports.  Luckily for me, this is a good excuse to find some new great reads.  One of the books I read was Legend, which is a dystopian novel set in the future.  I love this genre, so I knew instantly this is right up my alley.  I loved how the book switched between point of views and how the author could really capture the characters' personalities.  Each chapter has a huge cliffhanger and kept my attention nicely!  I highly suggest this book to anyone who likes the concept of dystopian societies.

Sephora Smoky Cream Liner in Statue Bronze - Funny story: when I got this product I used it as a cream eyeshadow and always wondered why it was so hard to blend and take of haha!  Oh 13 year old Jess was so ignorant.  Anyway, now that I actually know how to use this product, I love it.  It is such a pretty color when I'm going for more of a natural and neutral look.  It stays on all day and is super creamy and smooth.  I guess it lives up to its name!

Mascara Combo : Top L'oreal Voluminous Butterfly Intenza Mascara Bottom L'oreal Telescopic Mascara - I cannot stand the Telescopic Mascara on it's own, but when a pair it with a drier mascara that curls, I love the results.  The mascara really lengthens the lashes and the Butterfly Intenza builds up volume.

Yankee Candle Sugar & Spice Fragrance Spheres - If you've read my blog before you obviously know I'm obsessed with these.  I  can't have actual candles so these are the next best thing.  The smell of this candle completely like fall, which I am so ready for.   I'll be collecting these for a long time.

Some quick other favorites that I don't have pictures of are:
  • America's Book of Secrets
  • matte nails
  • gold nails
  • Bridezillas
  • twitter
  • John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16
I hope you enjoyed my post!  I'm happy to be back in the swing of things.
Please follow all of my social media below to keep up with what I'm doing!  Thanks

Project Palette #1 : One Month In

This month I have been using these the first row of eyeshadows so much!  I really liked wearing a warm neutral look, while using most of the highlight shades.  I also liked to add a shimmery peachy lid.  I circled the colors I've used the most!  No eyeshadow is anywhere near pan.

I hope you enjoyed this post.
Check back next month for my progress!

Swatch Sunday #5

Hi everybody!  As most of you know, summer is ending very soon, and everybody is going back to school.  Now, the usual fifteen year old girl would complain that school is on Wednesday, but I'm so ecstatic to get back!  But, when there's school, there's homework.  That's why I haven't been posting as much.  I have had absolutely no time to take pictures because I've had so much work to do!  Hopefully, this year I can find a nice balance between everything.

This Swatch Sunday is all about OCC Metallic Lip Tars!  If you go to Sephora now, all of the lip tars are 50% off, which is amazing!  OCC is changing up the packaging on them, to make them a little easier to apply (I assume).  This one is called Yaoi, and it's such a pretty color.  I think I'll be getting a lot of use out of it.

Thanks so much for reading!  What do you think about OCC Lip Tars?
What else do you want me to swatch?

Swatch Sunday #4

Happy Sunday!

Let's all take a moment to soak up the last bit of this week and relax!  Today's swatch Sunday is all about my L'oreal post.  I had rediscovered a palette that I bought specifically for a look, and I was curious about what other looks I could make.

First of all, you can see all of these shadows are shimmers.  This makes creating a total look a little difficult.  On the bright side, all of the shades are pretty pigmented.  Emphasis on pretty because all the shades are gorgeous.  The only thing I'd change about the color choice is that I wish the highlight was champany, rather than pearly white.

I hope you enjoyed this post!  What do you think of this quad?
What should I swatch for next week?

Brand Focus : L'oreal

Hi everyone!  I wanted to do another Brand Focus post, being I rediscovered a lot of products I like last time.  This time I decided to dig up all of my L'oreal products, and I've found some of my old favorite products.  L'oreal makes some of my favorite products in all three of the main makeup categories.  I love their BB cream, mascaras, eyeshadows, and lipglosses.  PS I've switched up the editing of my pictures a bit.  They'll be switched up next post also.  I'm trying to find a nice style that's convenient to create.

Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream - I love this product so much.  I've tried countless tinted moisturizers and BB creams, but nothing has compared to this.  It starts out as a white cream, but them seamlessly blends into the skin.  It provides a light/medium coverage and stays all day.

MagicLumi Highlighter - I'm not sure whether this is marketed as a highlighter or a concealer, but let me tell you I love it for both.  I use this in the under eye area and along my cheekbones before I use powder.  I think it gives some of the best brightening looks.

24Hr Infalliable Eyeshadows in bronzed taupe, golden emerald, amber rush, smoldering plum, and timeless blue spark - These little pots of magic have honestly changed my life.  Before these, I am not sure whether or not I knew what a quality product was!  My favorites are definitely amber rush, golden emerald, and smoldering plum.  They're honestly all amazing and very quality.  Cons for this product is that they're all shimmery and can fall apart easily.  In addition, the high quality means a high price tag.  For a drugstore product, you may be a little taken back.  All in all they're worth the money and can be used all over the lid or for a smokey eye!

Color Riche Eyeshadow Quad in So Over It! - This product was purchased for a tutorial I wanted to try out by one of my favorite youtubers, AlisonLovesJB.  It was just such a pretty look, that I had to get the colors!  I'm so happy I did because they're all super pigmented and don't disappoint.  The only one I feel could have stronger pigmentation is the pearly white shade, even though it's for a highlight, so it doesn't exactly need to be.

12Hr Infalliable The Super Slim Liquid Liner in black -  I don't know about you, but I love trying to find dupes.  I made this purchase solely because I love the Stila Stay All Day liner, and I was trying to find a less expensive alternative because who the heck wants to spend that much on liquid liner!? On my little journey, (oh I like the sound of that haha!) I came across this little treasure.  Although it's not waterproof like the Stila one, I still love it!  It has a slightly stiffer tip, but for me I really like that.

Voluminous Butterfly Intenza Mascara - This is one of my favorite mascaras because of both the brush and formula.  It's great for two layers because of the short bristles to apply a lot of product, and the other to separate the lashes.  The formula has fibers and is very dry, which I much prefer over wet formulations.  The downside to this is that it does flake after some time.

Lash Out Butterfly Waterproof Mascara - The original formula of this stole my heart, so I decided to get the waterproof version for the ultimate test.  Unfortunately, I really don't like this as much as the original.  I find it clumpy to layer and a pretty wet formula.

Voluminous Miss Manga Rock Mascara - Another variation of a mascara I loved!  I probably like this one better than the original honestly.  It does pick up a lot of product, so you have to be careful not to get too much of it on in one swoop.  And don't worry, it doesn't turn out to look like the ad!

Voluminous Miss Manga Mascara - Ah, the original!  This mascara is actually amazing.  It curls and lengthens my eyelashes like dreeeaamm.  It's also super easy to use!  All I can really say is YES.

Telescopic Mascara - I have a love hate relationship with this mascara.  I love how much it lengthens, but then again that's absolutely all it does.  My lashes go straight forward, so I don't really like using this on my already curled upper lashes.  On my bottom lashes though, that's where the good stuff happens.  The long thin brush coats them in one sweep and does all I want a bottom lash mascara to do!

Double Extend Beauty Tubes Mascara - This is where my mascara fantasy ends with L'oreal.  The primer end of the duo is okay.  I don't think it does too much, but it's not terrible for being the only lash primer I've ever used.  The other end is a liquidy mess.  This makes all my lashes stick together and does nothing to them.  So if you like one giant mediocrely long lash, be my guest.

Colour Riche Lipstick in Tropical Coral and Pink Flamingo - I think these lipsticks are great and I love the creamy formula.  Tropical Coral is a great everyday color that has a tint of coral.  Pink Flamingo is pretty new to me, and I haven't had a chance to make a look out of it.  It's kind of a Barbie color, so I'm pretty interested in how I'll make it work.  Comment below if you'd like me to make a tutorial.

Colour Riche Gloss in Plum Rush - I've never really been fond of gloss on the lips, so when I got this, I didn't use it alot.  It has a slight tint of purple, but it's nothing worth buying.  I would like to try the other shades, though.

Colour Riche Extraordinare in Rose Symphony, Molto Mauve, and Fuchsia Orchestra - These are some of my favorite lip products.  They aren't sticky at all and are very opaque.  My favorite is Molto Mauve, which I think is appropriate for any occasion.

Lip Stains:
Colour Caresse Wet Shine Lip Stain in Infinite Fuchsia - I really like this product, but I wish it faded in a prettier way.  By the end of three hours, my lips have faded into a thin hot pink lip line.  Also, when wearing this, it becomes very sticky.  I would like to try out a bunch of colors, though.

I hope you enjoyed this post and discovered a few new treasures!  What is your favorite L'oreal product?  What other brands should I do a post on?  Should I do a Pink Flamingo tutorial?

Day To Night : Top Row

Today I'm starting a quick new series!  It's called day to night.  I'll be taking a product, palette, or a piece of clothing and show you how to wear it during the day, and then during the night.  I think this is a great new series because it shows the versatility in everything, and of course that's what I'm all about.  In the words of the great Tim Gunn: "Make it work!"

For my first go at this, I decided to try and use my colors from my Project Palette post.  I used the top row, which feature warm colors.  I love all of them and find them really easy to work with!

For my day look, I went more towards the peachy side.  I layered a redish brown crease and a peachy shimmer on the lid.  For a less harsh look, I opted out the liquid liner and used a dark brown shadow instead.  I went for one layer of mascara, rather than a fake lash look.

For my night look, I darkened it up a bit.  Again, I used a redish brown in the crease, but went for a darker color.  Then, I used a dark brown for my lid.  I made the look more dramatic by choosing a heavy liner and mascara.

Hope you enjoyed my quick post!
Do you like this series? Give me suggestions on what I should show you from day to night. Thanks for reading.

This or That Tag

Welcome back to the blog!  Today I'm going to do a post that's a little different than what I usually do!  Every once in a while, I see a tag going around that I really want to do!  But of course I had so many posts ahead of this to do, so I saved it in my Blog Advice collection of Bloglovin'!  Oliva Redfern at had done this post all the way back in May, and what's better to do on a Sunday than answer a few questions?

Blush or Bronzer? Bronzer - I love a light contour!
Lipgloss or Lipstick? Lipgloss - Lately I've been loving a light glossy lip to pair with my natural looks!
Eyeliner or Mascara? Mascara - It's just the thing to make me look awake!
Foundation or Concealer? Concealer - All I need on my face is a little bit of concealer, and I'm ready to go! Although, during the Winter, I tend to go for a heavier base.
Pressed or loose Eyeshadow? Pressed - Loose shadows go everywhere! My favorite pressed shadows are the L'oreal Infalliable pressed pigments.
Brushes or Sponges? Sponges - The Beauty Blender has totally changed my application routine!  Sponges make everything look less streaky.

OPI or China Glaze? OPI - I have so many of their polishes, and the colors are always so pretty!
Long or Short? - Long - I think they look so much neater and are easier to do nail art on.
Acrylic or Natural? Natural - Although acrylics can look so pretty (shoutout to my boyfriend's mother and sister) I just can't justify the time, money, and health of my nails!
Bright or dark? Dark - If you know me, I'm all about dark colors and the Winter months.  I can't wait to pull out all my blacks and maroons!
Flowers or no flowers? No flowers - Don't get me wrong, nail art can be cute, but flowers just aren't my thing.

Perfume or body splash? Perfume - Some people tend to switch out all their perfumes for body sprays during the Summer, but I love perfumes all year round!
Lotion or body butter? Lotion - I have sensitive skin so I tend to opt for lighter options.
Body wash or Soap? Soap - Again with the theme of sensitive skin, I light to use dial soap just to make sure nothing is breaking me out!
Lush or other bath company? other bath company - I don't have a lush near me so I love using bath and body works products.

Jeans or sweat pants? Jeans - I'm more of a dressed up person, so you will never see me in public wearing sweats.
Long sleeves or short sleeves? long sleeves - I'm such a fan of the Winter months that I can't wait to get out my long sleeve shirts and dresses!
Dresses or Skirts? Dresses - I prefer dresses, being I have so many, but I do love skirts too.
Stripes or plaid? plaid - I'm obsessed with everything plaid!  I love the preppy look.
Flip Flops or sandals? flip flops - During the summer, I'm in a get up and go mood, so flip flips are so easy to just slip on and, well, go!
Scarves or Hats? scarves - I have so many scarves and so little hats, so this was a no brainer.
Studs or Dangly earrings? studs - I like the simple look they give.
Necklaces or Bracelets? necklaces - I dislike the feeling of having things on my wrists, and also I like statement necklaces to spice up a plain outfit.
Heels or flats? heels - I'm petite (5'1), so of course I like adding some height!
Cowboy boots or Riding boots? riding boots - I'm not into the cowgirl look haha!
Jacket or hoodie? Jacket - I like dressing up my outfits with a cute coat.
Forever21 or Charlotte Rousse? forever21 - It's my obsession. Enough said!
Abercrombie or Hollister? Hollister - Two years ago I definitely would've said Abercrombie, but now I love Hollister!  It's one of my favorite stores.

Curly or Straight? Curly - I have naturally curly hair, so it's so much easier to have, and I love it!
Bun or pony tail? Pony Tail - Buns take me back to my ballerina days, and I'm trying to stray as far away as possible from those memories.
Bobby Pins or Butterfly Clips - Bobby pins - These are my life savers.
Long or short? Short - I'm not allowed to get a cute bob right now, but when I'm out of my parents house, off goes the hair!
Light or Dark? Dark - I don't think blonde hair would suit me, and if anything I'd dye my hair darker!
Sideswept bangs or Full bangs? Full bangs - Think Taylor Swift 2013. Give it to me!
Up or down? Down - I love a cute curly hair look!

Rain or shine? Rain - I love a slight drizzle, but keep the thunder and lightening away!
Summer or Winter? Winter - As I've made completely evident in the previous questions...
Fall or Spring? Fall - Of course Jess, of course you like Fall.
Chocolate or Vanilla? Chocolate - Only I would have a complicated answer to this.  I don't like chocolate ice cream, but everything else you can think of I love in chocolate!

Thank you so much for reading!  Props to you if you got through this whole post.
Let me just tell you, it was a b*tch to write!  Comment below or make a post telling me your this or that answers!  Don't forget to let me know if you do this tag!

July Favorites

Well well well...

It's already August?  I can't believe that the year is more than halfway over, and school starts in a month!  As July is coming to a close, I've rounded up some of my favorites from this month.  To switch it up a bit, I've supplied my non-beauty favorites first!

Beyond Scared Straight! - If you know me, you'd know that when I go on Netflix, I don't look for shows like Gossip Girl or Pretty Little Liars.  There's just something about scripted shows that I don't care for, and I'd rather opt for a social documentary.  One of my favorite topics is jail, and when I came across this show, I was so excited!  This show followed a different group of kids ranging from around 9 to 17.  They bring them into the jail for a day, hopefully to scare them out of whatever trouble they're getting themselves into.  I don't recommend this show if you're young though, being there's a lot of bad language and themes. I sped through this series in about 4 days, and I'm obsessed! (and disappointed its over.)

The 1989 World Tour - I got floor seats to this concert for my birthday, and they were so worth it.  Taylor is such an amazing performer and adds so many extras to her concert.  I also got to see Nick Jonas, Haim, Shawn Mendes, Vance Joy, and a bunch of her supermodel friends, including Karlie Kloss!  This was such an amazing experience.

eos Lip Balms - I've had these lip balms for so long, but this month I just loved them so much!  I got past that point in all of these where it's not moisturizing, and finally got at least halfway through each of them.

elf Light Blush Palette - I've used this palette for a few months now, but this month I've focused on using one specific color.  This is the bottom right color, which is the only shimmery one in the palette.  It's a redish coral color and, like the other shades, is very pigmented.  Even though it looks like there's some major sparkle in the pan, it doesn't show up like that on the cheeks.

L'oreal Molto Mauve - These lipglosses are extremely good.  They stay on for a good amount of time, have intense pigmentation, and aren't sticky whatsoever.  I like this color especially.  It goes with so many looks and is a good mauve that keeps everything neutral.  I wore this all month and took it everywhere with me!

Thanks for reading!  What have you been loving this month?
I'd love to hear your suggestions of what I should try out.
