March Favorites 2015

Sonia Kashuk Chic Defining Contour Stick

elf Matte Lip Color in Natural
This month has gone so quickly!  There's just 4 days left until Spring Break and I'm anxiously awaiting my vacation.  This month I didn't find too many things that caught my eye, plus there's a repeat from last month.

Taylor Swift Incredible Things- This perfume is becoming my signature scent.  I featured this in my last monthly favorites, which you can check out here.  I can't express how much I obsess over this scent.  I always get so many compliments on it, which is always my favorite form of a compliment.  It's probably the least "girly" scent I own, with hints of musky vanilla.  I will 100% be wearing this all throughout the Spring.

Revlon Colorstay 24 Hour Foundation in 200- After running low on my Maybelline Fit Me Foundation, I decided to venture off and try another one of my much neglected foundations.  Lately, my skin has changed from super oily to combination, so I've strayed away from matte foundations.  Surprisingly, I really love this foundation.  I make sure I'm wearing a silicon primer, apply it to certain places on my face with a foundation brush, then I blend it in with a kabuki brush.  It stays all day and doesn't look cakey on my face.

Sonia Kashuk Chic Defining Contour Stick- (shown above) Before this month, I was very apposed to contouring.  I always thought it looked quite unnatural, but now I absolutely love the look.  This contouring stick is SO pigmented.  I apply it directly to my face by my hairline, my temples, my jawline, my nose, and the hollows of my cheeks.  I then blend it out with my elf Stippling Brush. All in all, this product is amazing quality and blends like a dream.

Vaseline Lip Therapy in Cherry- During the winter months, my lips get super dry.  I love using vaseline as a lip balm, but I hate the stick feeling of it on my lips and fingers.  This product doesn't require any contact with my fingers, which is a major plus.  It also has a slight tint of cherry flavor which is my favorite.

elf Matte Lip Color in Natural- This is one of my newest additions to my lip product collection, and I can't get enough of it!  It is so high quality for such a cheap product, and is very precise.  Also, I've been trying to find a nude that suits my skin tone, and I think I've finally found it!  I'm excited to try all the other shades in this collection.

My Favorite Spring Trends

Messy Hair
This trend finally allows me to NOT have to get up and fry my hair.  Now it's cool to wake up and throw my hair into a low braid and not have to worry about slicking my hair back. Check out my favorite look of this here. (I'm obsessed with her outfit too!)

Statement Lips
I'm honestly all over statement lips all year round.  I'm excited to wear some bright oranges and hot pinks! Check out my favorite look of this here.

Blue & Lime Liner
This trend isn't anything new to me, but I'm happy people are catching on! Blue liner is my go-to eye look that I get so many compliments on! I am excited to try out a lime green liner though. Check out my favorite look of this here and here.

Black Smokey Liner
Smokey eyes aren't something I wear everyday, or even on occasion.  I am SO excited to try to incorporate a smokey eye into my beauty routine!  Maybe I'll wear a smokey eye and a nude. Check out my favorite example here.

White Liner and Eyeshadow
Saving my favorite trend for last!  I was thrilled when people started catching on to this trend because I had just gotten into wearing this too.  White eyeshadow and liner really works to make your eyes pop! I love using the nyx jumbo pencil in milk with an eyeliner brush to apply it! Check out my favorite look of this here.

Thanks for checking out my blog! What are your favorite trends right now? Will you be wearing any of these this spring?

Empties #1

This is a series where I'll be basically be showing all the products I've used up.  I find this is a good way to review products, especially because the best way of knowing a product is using it all up!
maybelline expert eyes 100% oil free eye makeup remover // sg invisible dry spray shampoo // maybelline baby skin  instant pore eraser // sally hansen maximum growth // sephora glitter liner / mascara
  • Is it totally empty? Yes
  • Did I enjoy it? Yes
  • Why? It took off my eye makeup easily and does not burn my eyes.
  • Will I buy it again? Already have.
  • Is it totally empty? No
  • Why did I throw it out? It wasn't working properly.
  • Why? Although it's invisible, it leaves my hair greasier than it originally was and smells unpleasantly chemically.
  • Is it totally empty? Yes
  • Did I enjoy it? Yes
  • Why? It kept my makeup on all day and filled my pores.
  • Will I repurchase? Already have.
  • Is it totally empty? Yes
  • Why did I throw it out? It got too thick too apply.
  • Will I repurchase? No. It didn't leave much of an impression on me.
Sephora Glitter Liner and Mascara
  • Are they totally empty? No
  • Why did I throw them out? They dried out and started smelling.
  • Will I repurchase? No. They are no longer in stores.

Spring Makeup Tutorial

Wow! It's been quite awhile.  I've just been so busy with school and tennis that I haven't had time to put together a post.  Finally, I have a second to spare.

I've definitely been loving bronzed eyes and pink lips lately.  Also, the pop of white eyeliner is totally on trend right now!

What do you think of this look? What is your go to Spring look?

Happy Swatch Saturday!

Earlier this morning, I posted a picture of myself wearing essie naughty nautical here. This polish is so beautiful for a Spring/Summer shade.  I will definitely be wearing this more.

What do you think about essie naughty nautical?

Nail Trends: Spring 2015

Welcome back to my blog!
So, to start off: Yes, I'm waiting anxiously for Spring.  No, there recently seems to be no signs of it, considering the Northeast was just caught in a blizzard.  I recently read a post (that I can't remember where) of nail trends for this Spring.  The post was based on mostly cool tones and blues, so I decided to show my take on it!

Aquas & Turquoise
essie naughty nautical described as a 'marine blue-green shimmer.'
Sally Hansen Sea Through I described it as a very sheer blue-green tint
Sally Hansen Fuzz Sea I described it as a feathery top coat with blue and green pieces

Baby Blue & Periwinkle
Nails Inc. Queens Gate Gardens described as a 'pastel blue and pink Floral effect polish featuring a beautiful blend of daisy shaped matt glitter particles.'
essie bikini so teeny described as 'a sparkling, cornflower blue.'
Anise Hint Of Heaven I described it as a pastel baby blue.
L'oreal Pop The Bubbles described as a 'lightened, aqua teal with silver glitter and larger silver sequin-shaped glitter. I'm currently wearing this!

Dove Grey
Unfortunately, I do not own many grey polishes, so I did my best in finding one that I enjoy.  On the downside, I think this was a limited addition collection.
Disney Cinderella Sephora Collection I described this as a pearly grey.

Covergirl Mint Mojito I described this as a turquoise/mint color.
Sally Hansen Sour Apple I described this as a green toned mint.
Revlon Wintermint I described this as a metallic mint with small blue flecks. It even smells like mint!
essie turquoise and caicos described as 'a flirty and pretty tropical aqua,' even though I see it more as a mint :)

Have you tried any of these polishes? If so, take a picture and tag me on instagram @lips.and.trips or on twitter @jlpesso .  Have a great day! // Jessica

Bed Bath and Beyond Haul

Bed Bath and Beyond may sound like an odd place to buy makeup, but it's one of my favorite spots.  They always have a wide variety of brands and a load of discounts.

Hope you guys like this post!  Don't be afraid to comment if you'd like any reviews.  What have you picked up recently?

Whoops,  No shoes!  This is an outfit from the other day, but I've only had the chance to post it now!  Enjoy :)
