Pinterest Pinks: Spring Makeup Inspo

Pinterest is a place where I can organize all my favorite pictures and find inspiration for every occasion.  In this case, I decided to share a few of my favorite makeup looks with you.

Detached Wing- This look has always interested me.  I love this look so much that I pinned two versions!  I find it very difficult to do this look, so if anyone has a suggestion I would love for you to share.

Simple Eye LookNot much to say about this one other than that it's so pretty.  It's created for days when I don't feel like doing too much with my look.

Light Ombre Lips- This has also interested me.  Last year, this look was very popular.  I really love this look, but I've always been too hesitant to try it!  Does it remind anyone else of some pretty glass?

Thick Liner + Statement Lip- A classic look for me.  This is one of my most worn looks as it being easy to recreate.  I use my Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish Lipstick in 33 to complete the look.

The "No Makeup" Makeup Look- Killer Colours is honestly one of my favorite blogs.  Her makeup looks are flawless, and this one does not disappoint.  She has inspired me to get out of my comfort zone and try a more "natural" look.  This look is basically a little concealer and a lot of highlight.  No mascara! Shocker, right?  It's beautiful for Spring and feels so fresh to not have a load of makeup packed on my face.

Thanks so much for reading!  What are your favorite Makeup looks from Pinterest?

Spring Makeup Look: Teal Liner

Hey Everyone.

Today was so rough.  I left school sick today, and let's just say I'm not in the most desirable state.  That's okay though.  I needed to suck it up and put my makeup face on.  After all, makeup makes me happy.

Anyway, to the point of the post.  I really love spring looks.  Most of the year, I'm wearing neutral neutral neutral.  But in the Spring, I get to spice things up.  For the eyes, I adore wearing a pop of color.  One of my favorite colors to feature is a nice teal.  Unfortunately, I just got rid of my favorite teal liner, as you can see here.  I own a huge Sephora palette, though, and I just used a liner from there.  It's actually super pigmented and creamy.  I might wear it more often!

Swatch Saturday! (on a Sunday) #3

Happy Swatch Saturday! (In theory)

I haven't done one of these in so long, and I'm hoping to get back into it.  I know it's not Saturday, but I obviously cannot turn back time and post it yesterday!  Though, that would be awesome.

The other day before my Attempt at Not Spending Money challenge (I promise I'm not cheating!), I picked up Rimmel's Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick in 33.  I've been searching for a nice medium toned pink for some time now, and I've heard so much about the Kate lipsticks from Rimmel.  All the rage just lured me to pick it up!

At first glance, the lipstick swatches pretty nicely.  I can see some moisture in it and the pigmentation is great.  Also, the color here seems like it would be okay on my skin tone, but did lean a tad cool.  I have slight yellow undertones, so cool toned lipsticks don't always suit my skin.

The packaging on this is super cute.  I like the plain black tube with a simple handwritten detail.  This simple packaging is my favorite kind of packaging.  It doesn't feel cheap whatsoever.

The final and most important test was actually putting it on my lips.  Unfortunately, the swatch lied a bit.  Okay, a lot.  The color came out way too cool toned for my skin and looked like I put some neon lipstick on.  I did get it to fit my skin tone by putting a base of Rimmel's Exaggerate Full Colour Lip Liner in Enchantment.  The other issue is that it catches on the dry patches of your lips.  Make sure you exfoliate first!!  The result can be found in the picture above.

In conclusion, this lipstick is pretty solid in my book.  The other day, I wore this combo to a wedding, and it turned out really pretty.  It's very moisturizing, and will look wonderful on cooler skin tones.

Thank you very much for reading!  Don't forget to comment below telling me if you've used this lipstick before!  What should I swatch for my next Swatch Saturday?  xx

An Attempt At Not Spending Money: 10 Products Week 3

Well well well, my spending ban is really stinging right now.  My progress is going …okay. No pictures today, solely because theres not much visual change is status.  If you want to see pictures of the items used, feel free to check out my first post here.

Here, on this blurry iPhone photo,
I'm wearing my Revlon Lip Stain!
Maybelline MasterGlaze Blush in Make a Mauve- Over the course of these three weeks, I found out how much I like this product.  It blends so smoothly, and it so versatile.  This past week I even used it in place of multiple items in one look.  I used it obviously as a blush,  all over my lid for an eyeshadow, and on my lips as lipstick!  On my eyes, it creased terribly- even with a primer-, but I did get so many compliments on it!  Time to invest in a purple eyeshadow?  As a lipstick, it was super pretty and not uncomfortable at all, but expectedly didn't last very long.  Not much of a difference on how much product was used.
Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Stain in Smitten- Thank god that berries are on trend right now or else I'd be screwed haha.  I love using this product because it actually does stain my lips all day!  I don't really feel the need to reapply until after lunch.  The tip is almost flat, so I guess I made a little progress.
Maybelline Great Lash Lots of Lashes Mascara in Very Black-  Still not my favorite mascara unfortunately.  It almost always ends in me getting the product on my lips or underneath my lower lashes, which frustrates the hell out of me.  It's still super wet and hasn't dried up, which if you know me, I hate wet mascaras.  If you want more of what I think of this mascara, check out my mini review here, as well as many other Maybelline products.
Rimmel ScandalEyes Eye Shadow Paint in Beige- I've definitely warmed up to this product.  I used to hate it because it wasn't opaque enough and didn't blend at all.  I have found a few ways to use this, though.  Sometimes, if i want an intense inner corner highlight, I draw a small line of this on the inner lower lash line, and it stays all day! Literally.  Also, when I want to do a full white eye look, which I've been loving lately, I use this as an all over the lid base.  I don't think I'll be done with this anytime soon.
AphOrism Lipgloss- This color is super pretty, and I've been wearing it daily.  Theres one problem, though.  THIS PACKAGING IS TERRIBLE.  The cap flaked all over the place and I'm so mad about it.  Everytime I try to use this lipgloss I get black flakes stuck to my hand, and it's super annoying.  Luckily, I think it's all gone now, and I can focus on the actual product.  I've used a lot of this product, but I think I'm only about a fourth done with it.
Sumita Beauty Contrast Eye Pencil in Jaipur Gold- This pencil is so pretty, and I feel it's so versatile to use.  I love using it on the lower lash line, as a regular liner, and I'm planning on trying it all over the lid.  Time to sharpen it, too!
Maybelline Master Hi-Light Hi-Lighting Blush in Pink Rose- It's so pretty!!!! *Heart eye emojis* There's so many pros and cons to this product.  Pros- I love the color, it has a built in highlight, you can get so many colors out of this, and it's super pigmented.  Cons- It fades so quickly and the packaging is so bulky.  I didn't hit pan YET, but I have made a dent.
Sephora Rouge Infusion in Plum- Although this color is stunning, I'm afraid it's too dark for springtime, so I'm having issues fitting it into my makeup routine.  Also, it's not totally opaque and becomes blotchy, so I feel the need to either layer it or add a gloss.  Not much progress on the "using it up" thing. ps: This smells so lovely! Very sweet.
ChapStick Flava Craze in Fruit Craze- Damn, I have used this every day at least three times a day! It does a great job moisturizing my lips and prepping them for some cute lippies.  I used up a bunch of this, but I have so much to go!
Tarte Amazonion Clay Full Coverage Foundation in Tan Honey-  Eek!  I haven't even touched this yet.  In contrast to my first post, I guess you could say it really isn't going to be that easy to use.  I'm just so nervous to mix a foundation with this.  Any suggestions?

Yay!  Three weeks down, a billion to go.  As much as I miss getting new products, it's super fun getting comfortable with some oldies and seeing how my love/loath progresses.  Thank you so much for reading! don't forget to take on the challenge. ;)

Brand Focus: Maybelline

Hi Everyone!

I love reading blog posts that focus on one brand at a time and seeing their strengths and weakness.  Brands tend to have good products in one area, but can lack in another.  As you'll see in this post, I love Maybelline's face products, but their lip products are on the eh side.  I swatched all the products I own by Maybelline, (except for the Master Kajal Cream Kohl Eyeliner :( ) and I took pictures of the packaging too.  I'll definitely do a bunch of these posts if everyone likes these.

left to right:  Peach Satin, Rose Petal, Pink Fever,
Just-Pinched Pink, Make A Mauve, Pink Rose

MasterGlaze Blush- I have this blush in three shades (left to right) Make A Mauve, which is a dark
mauve, Just-Pinched Pink, which is a peach-toned pink, and Pink Fever, which is a shimmery hot pink.  These blushes are some of my favorite.  I feel they actually stay on my face all day, but are extremely easy to blend.  They're in stick form, so I apply them directly to my face (remember to use a light hand) and then blend them out with a stippling blush.  Make a Mauve is my favorite of the shades.

Dream Bouncy Blush- This blush was the first Maybelline product I had ever bought.  These blushes are interesting to say the least.  I love how when I touch them they feel super spongy and bounce right back.  I don't feel as if they have enough pigment for me, but I do still like wearing them.  I have the blush in the colors Peach Satin, an orange toned red and Rose Petal, a light neutral pink.  I apply these with a stippling brush.
Master Hi-Light Blush- This blush, in Pink Rose is a great everyday blush.  I really like this product, and it definitely stays all day for me.  I like this product a lot because it has so many different shades in it, but it also includes shimmer bricks.  It's very convenient because I don't need to wear a highlight with it!

Dream Fresh BB Cream- This is one of the first 'foundations' I ever bought.  Even though it's a BB Cream, they have light to medium coverage.  It does feel a little heavy on the skin and leaves a very dewy finish.  I wear this during the Spring and Summer months where I don't want to wear a full coverage foundation.  I have this in the shades light/medium and medium.
FitMe Foundation Dewy & Smooth- I have an obsession with this foundation.  It leaves the prettiest effect on my skin and is in no way cakey.  The staying power on this foundation is great and I never have to worry about it fading during the day when I'm at school.  The only downside to this foundation is the packaging.  I just wish it had a pump or something. :(  Oh well, I'll still be repurchasing this again and again.  I own it in the color 125 Nude Beige.
Instant Age Rewind Dark Spot Eraser- I have the shade 215 Fair/Light.  I really do enjoy this concealer and it really helps in the morning when I'm too lazy to wake myself up.  It covers up my dark spots really nicely, and not just under my eyes!  It's super easy to blend too, even with just a flat top kabuki brush.
Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser- I really like this primer.  It have a silicone feel, which honestly is the best primers for me.  I like primers that allow my foundations to apply smoothly and have a little "slip" to them.  It doesn't fill my pores as to where it makes a difference though.

Left to Right: Edgy Emerald, Inked in Pink,
Green With Envy Palette
Left to Right: Brash Blue, Tough as Taupe,
Blackest Black,  Barely Branded

The Rocket Volm' Express Mascara- I started out really disliking this mascara.  It was very wet, and I couldn't stand the burden of having to scrape the excess product off the wand.  Now that it has dried up a bit, I really like this product.  It lengthens my lashes nicely and adds a curl.  It does flake by the end of the day, though.
Great Lash Lots of Lashes Mascara- Once again I started out disliking this mascara.  It was way too wet and the wand was such an odd shape.  I can get passed this, now that it's in my list of products to use up, but it's still not my favorite.  It doesn't give an even coating to my eyes, plus it's a bit clumpy, but I do like how it doesn't flake on me.
Mega Plush Volum' Express- Today, I put on this mascara.  I haven't tried it in a while, and I'm actually really liking it.  It coats my lashes thinly, and even thought the formula is wet, It doesn't clump up like usual.  The mascara really does take from the name.  I mean, just look at the wand.  It really is plush!!  My lashes look volumized, but at the same time not heavy.  It also makes me happy that my lashes aren't hard, and that even though the wand is so big, none of the product got on my eyelids!  That's a #1 in my book.

24Hr Color Tattoos- These products are on so much hype, and I feel like everyone has a positive opinion on them.  Honestly, I do like them, but I don't feel like they're honestly worth the hype.  Most people use these as a base, and they claim that they "don't crease."  Unfortunately, they do on my eyes. :(  I love these colors, and they're all so pretty.   I have Tough as Taupe, Edgy Emerald, Inked in Pink, and Barely Branded.  My favorite is Inked in Pink, which my mom just gave to me. Thanks Mom. I feel like it's really wearable and doesn't need anything on top of it.  It's a perfect color to just swipe on and go.

Master Kajal Cream Kohl Eyeliner- Stupid me Unfortunately, I forgot to add a swatch of this, but it basically just looks exactly like the packaging.  Don't you just love when that happens?  I just put on this eyeliner today.  I know that kohl eyeliner isn't supposed to be super slim and accurate, but I just wish it was.  This color is really pretty.  It's perfect for an unconventional smoked out liner, being blue and all.  I especially like using this smudged on my lower lash line.  It's safe to say that I do like this product.  It's pigmented, but I just wish it was slimmer.
EyeStudio Palette- I just picked this up about 2 weeks ago, and unfortunately, I haven't gotten the chance to make an eye look out of it.  I have swatched it though, and the colors are beautiful.  I've been wanted to wear more greens lately, and I'm hoping this'll do just the trick.  Comment below whether you like this or not!
Color Tattoo Pure Pigments-  I only have this eyeshadow in Brash Blue, and I wish I could've gotten it in maybe a more iridescent shade.  I do like this product because a little goes a long way, but I bought it while I was going through my cobalt blue phase, and now I'm really not into that anymore.  I like using this under my lash line, and as a liner.
EyeStudio Gel Liner- I searched for the longest time to find the perfect gel liner to start out with.  I watched a whole load of YouTube videos on this, and everyone said that this one was great to get from the drugstore.  I love this liner a whole lot, and it's extremely pigmented, but it's almost dried out.  But for now, I'll keep using it. :)

Left to Right: Cherry Me, Ravishing Rouge, Endless Raisin,
Rose Of Attraction, Pink Shock, and Petal Plush

Baby Lips- Remember when there was so much hype over these?  I remember when I wanted every shade and every flavor.  Now that I know what real makeup is actually like, well, let's just say I know better now.  The only one that I actually use to wear out is Cherry Me.  I like this a lot because sometimes I don't want a real heavy red lip.  This is a great color for just a tint of red and moisturization, but none of these last very long.

Super Stay 24Hr Lipstick- I bought the first lipstick (on the left) purely for the name.  I mean, Endless Raisin?  What even?  It's basically a brown shade, nothing special.  I like layering it in the Fall though.  The other one, Ravishing Rouge, is really a nice red.  These lipsticks don't give precision, but they stay one for a long time.  They're very thick and moisturizing.  I suggest wearing with a liner to get the best precision.

Color Whisper- I find honestly nothing special about this lipstick.  I have it in a light shimmery tone, and yes, I know it's supposed to be sheer, but it doesn't have an impact on me.  I don't dislike it at all.  Don't get me wrong, everybody needs a few MLBB Lipsticks.  It's good for a natural look, but adds a light pop because of the shimmer.
ColorSensational the Elixr Lipgloss- Ha! Maybelline at it again.  These were also some of the most hyped items, like ever.  I honestly think I made a mistake when I got such a light color because of the fact it highlights every dry patch on my lips.  I find this gloss very heavy and made me kind of uncomfortable??? I know, I couldn't really find the words to explain that feeling.  I think once my spending ban is over I'm going to try a few more of these.

Thank you so much for reading!  What are some of your favorite Maybelline products and in what shades? What other brands should I do a Brand Focus post on?

April Favorites 2015

Happy Monday everybody.

This month went so quickly.  I feel as if even though April is the official start of Spring, it definitely it a transition month.  I really feel as if this month I honed my organizing skills and sucked it up and decided to spending detox for a while.  Unfortunately, (in my head at least) I didn't find too many products that really caught my eye.  What's interesting for me in this post is that there is NO MAKEUP.  *cue the horror music*

On my trip to Disney this month, I bought myself a Maple Leaf Necklace in the Canada Pavilion in Epcot.  How adorable is this!?  I mean, look at that face.  I love adding this to an outfit thats plain and making it instantly cuter.

I received the Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle Leave in Conditioner in my March BirchBox.  This should be called Miracle Worker because I swear it detangles my hair instantly.  Usually, I can't tell the difference when I use product or I don't, but I saw an immediate difference here.  Sadly, I liked it so much that I ran out!  You can count on me that I'll be purchasing the full size.

If you know me, I have the opposite of a green thumb.  I have such an issue caring for plants that one day my mom came home and got me a Succulent and Cactus.  Little did she know that these are such a trend right now and I've been wanting one!  This plant is just super cute and low maintenance.

My favoritest favorite of April was my Orlando trip!  I spent time at Disney and Universal and it was so much fun!  I love these two places so much and I always know I'm going to have a fun time on the rides and have some good food!  I do regret not taking a lot of pictures, though!

Thank you for reading!  What were your favorite things from this month?  Comment below, I'd love to hear about it.  Don't forget to follow me on instagram @Jessica_Pesso.  Have a great Monday!
