July Favorites

Well well well...

It's already August?  I can't believe that the year is more than halfway over, and school starts in a month!  As July is coming to a close, I've rounded up some of my favorites from this month.  To switch it up a bit, I've supplied my non-beauty favorites first!

Beyond Scared Straight! - If you know me, you'd know that when I go on Netflix, I don't look for shows like Gossip Girl or Pretty Little Liars.  There's just something about scripted shows that I don't care for, and I'd rather opt for a social documentary.  One of my favorite topics is jail, and when I came across this show, I was so excited!  This show followed a different group of kids ranging from around 9 to 17.  They bring them into the jail for a day, hopefully to scare them out of whatever trouble they're getting themselves into.  I don't recommend this show if you're young though, being there's a lot of bad language and themes. I sped through this series in about 4 days, and I'm obsessed! (and disappointed its over.)

The 1989 World Tour - I got floor seats to this concert for my birthday, and they were so worth it.  Taylor is such an amazing performer and adds so many extras to her concert.  I also got to see Nick Jonas, Haim, Shawn Mendes, Vance Joy, and a bunch of her supermodel friends, including Karlie Kloss!  This was such an amazing experience.

eos Lip Balms - I've had these lip balms for so long, but this month I just loved them so much!  I got past that point in all of these where it's not moisturizing, and finally got at least halfway through each of them.

elf Light Blush Palette - I've used this palette for a few months now, but this month I've focused on using one specific color.  This is the bottom right color, which is the only shimmery one in the palette.  It's a redish coral color and, like the other shades, is very pigmented.  Even though it looks like there's some major sparkle in the pan, it doesn't show up like that on the cheeks.

L'oreal Molto Mauve - These lipglosses are extremely good.  They stay on for a good amount of time, have intense pigmentation, and aren't sticky whatsoever.  I like this color especially.  It goes with so many looks and is a good mauve that keeps everything neutral.  I wore this all month and took it everywhere with me!

Thanks for reading!  What have you been loving this month?
I'd love to hear your suggestions of what I should try out.

Project Palette #1

I am so excited to do this little challenge!  I have this huge Sephora Makeup Artist Palette that I use next to never.  For the next couple months, my challenge is to hit pan on all the colors!  To start out, I selected the top two lines of shadows.  In all honesty, the pictures for this post were a little rushed, so the colors didn't come out as I wish they would have.  I guess I'll just explain all the colors to you!

( I will talk about the colors from left to right 1, 2, 3, 4, and so on.)

Top 1 - a  matte cream

Top  2 - a shimmery beige

Top 3 - a pearly slightly peach toned cream

Top 4 - a shimmery light pinky peach

Top 5 - a matte light coral

Top 6 - a matte slightly red toned brown

Top 7 - similar to top 6, but with more red

Top 8 - a slightly shimmery dark brown with a tint of purple

Bottom 1 - a very shimmery light pink

Bottom 2 - a pearly mid toned pink with a slight tint of magenta

Bottom 3 - a shimmery hot pink

Bottom 4 - a pearly lavender

Bottom 5 - a pearly mid toned purple

Bottom 6 - a slight pearly blue toned purple

Bottom 7 - a slightly shimmery mid toned purple

Bottom 8 - a matte black with purple sparkles

One a month for the next 6 months, I'll be showing you the progress and the looks I have made with this palette!  I'm excited to hear your thoughts on this.  Thanks for reading!

Empties #4

Time for another post showcasing my trash!!  I don't know what it is but empties posts have been some of my favorites recently.  It's funny I say that because I feel as if every empties post and video I watch/read lately has some justification of their liking of empties.  Why isn't it normal to look at reviews of products we've used up?  Isn't it the truest form of a review?  That's just my reasoning.  Either way, I've used a ton of products this round.

Pantene Pro-V Smooth and Sleek anti-frizz shampoo - I really enjoyed this shampoo.  It lathered up nicely, which is oddly one of the top things that make a shampoo my favorite.  When a shampoo bubbles up I feel like my hair is cleaner.  Odd right?  I guess that's just me, oops.  I don't know whether or not I would buy this again, being I don't buy shampoos too often being I have a stock pile of half used products, but I think it's safe to say I would recommend it!

Suave Professionals Sleep Conditioner - I want to start off by saying that this is a freaking big ass bottle of conditioner!  I really don't know how long it took me to use this up, but maybe it was too long.  Don't get me wrong: Who doesn't need a bottomless container of conditioner, especially when its good.  I liked this product, but it's definitely nothing I'd run out and buy again.  Just your average conditioner.

Dove Dry Spray Cool Essentials Deodorant - Dove keeps getting better and better.  I'd never think that I'd be writing these words, but I've found a holy grail deodorant.  Lemme explain this to you.  You take the bottle, you spray it on, you go about your day.  Ground breaking.  This lasts all day and so does the smell.  A little TMI, but even my boyfriend told me my armpits smelled nice.  I'm obviously going to be repurchasing this, and I may or may not having a stockpile right now...

Gilette Satin Care Ultra Sensitive Shave Gel - A little background here:  I have extremely sensitive skin to the point where when I shave, my legs break out.  My mom suggested I start using this shave gel, so I did with caution.  I have to say that this really works!  My legs were noticeably clearer, and I think I'll be purchasing this again!

Burt's Bees Cucumber & Sage Facial Cleansing Towelettes - Once again I've purchased these beautifully scented face wipes.  These smell exactly like the lobby of the hotel on Sunset Key in Key West.  Fun Fact: I'm an avid smell recognizer.  On another note, I know it's terrible I use them up so fast, but they're just so convenient!  I don't know if I'd be repurchasing these again, as I feel they're not as damp as I'd want.

Alterna Bamboo Volume Abundant Volume Conditioner - First impression: how necessary was it to put "volume" twice in the title?  Like geez guys, we know everyone wants voluptuous hair.  On the opposite end of the spectrum, I don't recall this doing much for me...  On the fair note, it was only a one time sample.  I wish I could've used this more to get a better feel.

Philosphy Purity Cleanser - Once again, I can't say much about this product because I just used it once.  Sorry, just wish I could see the effects, if there were any.

Ojon Damage Reverse Restoration Conditioner - Even though, similar to my last sample, I only got one use, I can tell that this conditioner is amazing!  I felt my hair was noticeably softer, and it stayed like that all day.  I do wish I could've used this more, so I could love it more.

Up & Up Dual Sided Cotton Ovals - Woohoo for generic brands!  What can I really say about these?  Of course I'll be purchasing them again, as they as super useful for so many things.

Murad Hydro-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture Moisturizer - I'm going to be honest here and say that I wasn't expecting much out of what became my little pot of magic.  I really do love this moisturizer.  It didn't make me feel greasy at all, but it was thick enough to moisturize my face nicely.  I'm not sure how expensive this is, but I think I'm willing to pay a good price for a full size.

Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer - I think I squeezed all I could out of this little sample!  This really did last so long though.  I'll let this speak for itself when I say that I already purchased this primer.  You're welcome.

tarte Lights Camera Lashes Mascara - I literally used every last bit of this mascara.  I loved it so much because even though it gave my lashes major volume, they were still soft!  It's so rare for a mascara to do both, and I'm so happy I got to use it for so long.  I don't know if I can get myself to leave my drugstore favorites, so I may skip getting the full size.

Swatch Sunday #3

Happy Swatch Sunday!  Today I've swatched BareMinerals Punch Pop for you.  I love these lipsticks, as they are very pigmented oil tints.  They're not sticky whatsoever and leave a nice stain.  They're also very hydrating and can be used either as a full opaque color or a sheer wash.  One of my favorite products, and I'd love to buy more colors!

Thanks for reading!  Have you tried this product before?
What would you like me to swatch next?

Book Haul Summer 2015

Summer's here and that means I have a whole knew Summer Read list for school.  This year, I really didn't find anything that interested me too much, so I decided to pick two at random.  I also picked up two others that have been on my must read list!  This should be interesting...

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell - "Cath is a Simon Snow fan.  Okau, the would is a Ismon Snow fan....  But for Cath, being a fan is her life - and she's really good at it.  She and her twin sister, Wren, ensconced themselves in the Simon Snow series when they were just kids; it's what got them through their mother leaving.  Reading.  Rereading.  Hanging out in Simon Snow forums, writing Simon Snow fanfiction, dressing like the characters for every movie premiere.  Cath's sister has mostly grown away from fandom, but Cath can't let go.  She doesn't want to.  Now that they're going to college, Wren has told Cath she doesn't want to be roommates.  Cath is on her own, completely outside of her comfort zone.  She's got a surly roommate with a charming, always - around boyfriend; a fiction-writing professor who thinks fanfiction is the end of the civilized world; a handsome classmate who only wants to talk about words.... and she can't stop worrying about her dad, who's loving and fragile and has never really been alone.  For Cath, the question is: Can she do this? Can she make it without Wren holding her hand?  Is she ready to start living her own life?  And does she even want to move on if it means leaving Simon Snow behind?

Legend by Marie Lu - "From different worlds, June and Day have no reason to cross paths... Until June's brother is murdered, and Day becomes the prime suspect.  In a shocking turn of events, the two uncover what has really brought them together, and the sinister lengths to which their country will go to keep its secrets."

Outliers The Story of Success by Malcolm Gladwell - "In this stunning new book, Malcolm Gladwell takes us on an intellectual journey through the world of "outliers"--the best and the brightest, the most famous and the most successful. He asks the question: what makes high-achievers different?
His answer is that we pay too much attention to what successful people are like, and too little attention to where they are from: that is, their culture, their family, their generation, and the idiosyncratic experiences of their upbringing. Along the way he explains the secrets of software billionaires, what it takes to be a great soccer player, why Asians are good at math, and what made the Beatles the greatest rock band."

My Brief History by Stephen Hawking - "My Brief History recounts Stephen Hawking's improbable journey, from his postwar London boyhood to his years of international acclaim and celebrity.  Lavishly illustrated with rarely seen photographs, this concise, witty, and candid account introduces readers to a Hawking rarely glimpsed in previous books: the inquisitive schoolboy whose classmates nicknamed him Einstein; the jokester who once placed a bet with a colleague over the existence of a particular black hole; and the young husband and father struggling to gain a foothold in the worlds of physics and cosmology.  Writing with characteristic humility and humor, Hawking opens up about the challenges that confronted him following his diagnosis of ALS at age twenty-two.  Tracing his development as a thinker, he explains how the prospect of an early death urged him onward through numerous intellectual breakthroughs, and talks about the genesis of his masterpiece A Brief History of Time - one of the iconic books of the twentieth century.  Clear-eyed, intimate, and wise, My Brief History opens a window for the rest of us into Hawking's personal cosmos."

Thank you so much for reading!  What's on your to read list?
Leave some book suggestion below so I can add more to mine!

Summer Haul

Hi everyone!  I've awoken from under my rock (aka I've been at a sleep away camp), and I'm so excited to share my recent haul from the mall.  I swear, even though it's summer, mostly everything I bought is black.  I guess I gravitate towards pieces that look timeless and easy to match with.  I also bought a perfume on sale that my friend convinced me to buy, even though it's more of a holiday scent.  It smells absolutely stunning!  Her and I also got matching Forever21 lipglosses, and I picked up an angled brush.
